Demonstrating its commitment to progressive educational reform, the University implemented the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 from the academic session 2023–24, becoming the first university in Himachal Pradesh to adopt and operationalize the NEP-2020 framework.
The Office of the Dean (Academic Affairs) functions under the overall supervision of the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor and oversees the academic and administrative coordination of the University. It ensures the smooth conduct of academic programs, formulation of the academic calendar, management of admissions, curriculum implementation, and examinations, and provides academic support to affiliated colleges and departments.
The Dean (Academic Affairs) is assisted by the Deans and Heads of Departments in implementing academic policies, maintaining academic standards, and ensuring the effective functioning of all teaching and learning activities.

Brief Profile:

I received my B.Sc. (Hons. School) Physics, M.Sc. (Hons. School) Physics from Panjab University Chandigarh and started teaching in 1997. I have completed my doctorate in theoretical nuclear physics from P. U. Chandigarh under the guidance of Prof. R. K. Gupta. I joined NIT Hamirpur in August 2007. Apart from theoretical nuclear physics I worked on a couple of materials with Prof. R. Kumar, who was working at NIT Hamirpur in the Department of Material Science and Engineering. I am currently working as Dean, Students Welfare and Alumni Affairs (DSW&AA), Dean (Academic), Dean (USS) and Dean (P&D) of H.P. Technical University, Hamirpur.
